Methodology
At
the International Spanish School of Costa
Rica, the emphasis for teaching Spanish
as a second language is the use of guided
conversation as a fundamental tool since
by means of this, grammar is introduced
in a practical way and without the student
loosing enthusiasm and enjoyment of learning
Spanish without stress. After years of experience
we have developed our own methodology we
call ‘psychosensorial’ in which the interactive
practice of conversation is essential to
be able to develop communication between
the rational part of our mind where information
is stored and our sensorial or intuitive
part that signals us when to do something.
With this methodology, we manage to get
students to not have to rationalize or rely
on remembering grammar rules upon speaking
Spanish, but rather to develop a natural
‘feel’ for when to use a specific conjugation,
tense or other grammatical application without
the stress of having to recall grammar rules
or rationalize information when having a
conversation with someone. Something unique
or very different about our school is that,
by means of our own methodology, we can
guarantee students a quick advance in their
learning and a great and real difference
in the development of their listening ability
and in their oral and written production
from when they begin and when they finish
their course.
